Spring is finally here and summer is only a couple of months away. That means Denver’s free concerts activities and other events are right around the corner. Here are some of our favorite free events in Denver!

CINCO DE MAYO

When: May 7 – 8
Where: East Colfax Avenue Denver, CO 80202
The Cinco de Mayo “Celebrate Culture” Festival happens every year on the weekend of May 5th. Although this festival is extremely fun and has a ton of delicious Mexican food it also has an altruistic goal of the economic development in poor communities. The festival also helps to provide affordable housing opportunities to low and moderate income families and individuals.

DENVER DAY OF ROCK

WHEN: May 28, 2016 (2:30-9:30 p.m.)
WHERE: Downtown Denver

Denver Day of Rock is one of very few festivals that happen in the heart of downtown. Literally all the performances happen on 16th st. Mall, making it convenient to walk from one performance to another. There are a total of five stages and numerous food and beer vendors set up throughout downtown for this epic event. The event provides free music to rock downtown from 2:30 to about 10pm.
As is the case with other free events and concerts, Denver’s Day of Rock is a fundraiser for Amp the Cause, a Denver non-profit that raises funds for more than 50 children’s charities.

2016

Where: City Park Colorado Boulevard and 17th Avenue. Denver, CO

  

This festival is by far one of our favorites here in Denver. Why?

Combine free amazin music from Jazz, Salsa and other fun genres all in the out door setting of city park in Denver. Most people bring food to bbq, beer or wine and enjoy a fantastic day and evening with friends picnic style listening to live music. The park get’s very busy so show up early (4 -5pm is a good time). This is the 29th year for City Park Jazz and they have a fantastic lineup FREE every Sunday starting in…. The concert series span over a 10 week period from June, July and finish off in August. Like every year the musical lineup crosses cultures, styles, and genres in a way that shows the cultural and musical diversity of our city.

COLORADO RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL

WHEN: June 11-August 7, 2016 (Saturdays & Sundays Only)
WHERE: 650 W. Perry Park Ave., Larkspur

Travel back to the 16th century and take a medieval adventure at the Colorado Renaissance Festival. Enjoy delicious food, music, renaissance costumes and armor, music and marketplace featuring hundreds of artisans.

 

COLORADO DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL

WHEN: July 30-31, 2016
WHERE: Sloan’s Lake Park
 

The Colorado Dragon Boat Festival was founded in 2001 Founded in 2001. The festival has been growing in popularity far more than any other event. It is a fun family-friendly summer event. The Westword named it “Best of Denver’ and the Rocky Mountain News labeled it as “Top Annual Festival”, it offers a unique and rare opportunity to explore Asians cultures, food, and customs through performances, arts & crafts, food and the thrilling athletic competition of dragon boat racing.

 

A TASTE OF COLORADO

WHEN: September 2-5, 2016  
WHERE: Civic Center Park

A Taste of Colorado is the epic ending to the summer festival season. It boasts an attendance of over half a million people over its four-day Labor Day weekend celebration. The festival has seven stages and hosts over 50 restaurants, 250 artisans and vendors. The festival celebrates diverse cultural and Western heritage of the region.
